“Great local restaurant, chilled evening out.”

Reviewed 25 May 2011
This is a local restaurant for me, so had walked past often but not tried it out. Wish I'd tried it sooner! I had a lovely evening recently; interesting and tasty choice of food, good service and reasonable price. I'll be back!
Although it states they are a pizza restaurant, I think this a bit misleading as they offer more than just pizza.

Hellers Kitchen is a great little find in the Southside of Edinburgh. I've been to Edinburgh a few times but this was my first visit to Hellers Kitchen. The array of cakes in the window tempted me in for an afternoon coffee and lemon cake. The restaurant was light and airy but what impressed me the most was the friendliness of the staff. I'll definately come back here for dinner on my next trip into town.

Compared to its counterpart, Hellers Kitchen is a more modern space with white walls, comfy chairs and a large skylight. The menu, like that of The New Bell, is seasonal and imaginative, but more extensive and supplemented by an array of daily specials.

'With its low slung lights, ubiquitous French advertising posters and blonde wood furniture, this new bistro could be located anywhere in the western world. Well, that's what my boyfriend, Rol, and I thought as we stumbled through the door, post-work, laden down with bags after a speedy visit to the nearby Southside food market, Earthy. Don't get me wrong - I have no problem with this kind of decor, it just seems a bit of a departure, as this restaurant is owned by Richard and Michelle Heller of the much-loved New Bell - a place, just down the road, that's packed with olde worlde character (ie lots of antiques, rugs and brass).
